The Confederation of Co-operative Housing (CCH) have this week launched a new Code of Governance for community led housing organisations (2021).
This replaces the previous Code of Governance provided by CCH, written in 2012. This new document is written by Nic Bliss (Head of Policy at CCH) and Blase Lambert (Chief Officer at CCH) with input from an advisory group which included local authorities, community-led housing organisations and members, service providers, and solicitors.
The documents covers 5 key principles for effective governance:
- Clarity of purpose and values
- Community accountability
- Effective leadership and control
- Effective and clear delivery
- Strong systems of control and audit
